Galaxy Races

Well it's that time of year again when the nights are drawin' in which can only mean one thing - Galaxy races. If you are new to these the concept is simple. On the first Tuesday of every month between October and March we meet and register at 18:15 at the gates to Lochee Park and set off on a circular 4.4 mile route at 18:30pm. The first race of the season will therfore be on Tuesday 4th October. The second race will be held on Tuesday 1st November which will also include the draw for the 2017 London Marathon club ballot place - more details about this draw will be posted very soon. A map of the galaxy route can be viewed on Strava here.

To clarify - The route starts at Lochee park and heads west along Charleston Drive before descending on Arran Drive. Keep steaming down South run before a right turn at the roundabout at the Lynch Centre. Then it's all the way up the side of the Kingsway (on the paths - no shortcuts please) until heading right on Coupar Angus Road and right again on to Ancrum road for the eyeballs out sprint to the finish.

Each runner is timed on their first race and if you beat your time in a subsequent race you earn a galaxy bar - a great incentive to keep you running fast over the cold winter months. Although these races can bring out the inner competitiveness in you, they are primarily designed to be a bit of fun and remember that you are only racing against yourself. Guests and newcomers are very welcome to come and run too but galaxy bars and course records will only be awarded to current DRR members.

Course records:

27:01 - Robbie Dunlop (7/2/17)

27:35 - Anwen Darling  (7/3/16)
