Auchterhouse Hill Race

Well done to everyone who turned out to run and support our club race on Thursday 17 August.  The sun was shining for the 34 runners who took part in the challenging 3.5 mile long race which includes 800 feet of climbing!  Congratulations to the winners - Robbie and Anwen -  who made it home in 24:42 and 27:05 respectively.     The full results are available on the results page, here.

Summer Relay - Saturday 24th June

relay 1

Thanks to everyone who helped organise this year's summer relay and barbeque, with a particular shout out to John who spent his Saturday taking photos and providing water and refreshments at the end of each leg.   We had a great turnout for the relay which started at Caird Park then went through Monikie and Crombie Country Parks before finishing in Broughty Ferry.  Well done to those training for their first ultra who ran several legs and totalled over 20 miles each.   The day finished with a very social BBQ where Matty's pavlovas disappeared just as quickly as the pile of burgers expertly cooked by Tim and Mark!

Grand Prix Race #4

The Glenrothes 10k took place on what will possibly prove to be the hottest day of our summer!  It was the fourth race in this year's Grand Prix, which means we are now half way through the competition.  We had a great turnout of club runners who slapped on the suncream (or not!) braved the weather and the most serious looking marshalls ever,  and risked life and limb dodging around the youngsters - and some parents -  who were racing for the finish line of their own event being held at the same time.

All but two of the 37 DRR runners are in the running for the Grand Prix. In the men's event the top three are Kevin Greig (189points), Craig Beattie (170) and Michael Mitchell (140). Only Kevin and Craig have ran all 4 races so far.  In the women's event there was no change in the first two despite their not running - with the three top places being taken by Jennifer Massie (148), Lorraine Dunbar (143) and Sofia Sita (132).   With 4 races still remaining, everything can change before the end of the competition.

Next up in the series is the Brig Bash 5 on Wednesday 5 July through in Bridge of Earn.  The race has now sold out but with 35 club members expected to compete.

Templeton Trail Race

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the 2017 Templeton Trail race another success.  It was held on a beautiful sunny night,  with a record turnout of 133 runners, largely due to our friends from Falkland Trail Runners and Kinross Road Runners who included the race into their respective club championships.  Well done to all our runners; we really hope you enjoyed the run and the post run BBQ.  Here are the official results.

If you enjoyed the race and would like to sign up for our next event, Templeton 10 Mile Race is on November 6th and entry is now open on entrycentral.

Summary Race Report by Ashley Casano

On Sunday, May 21st, over 4,000 runners lined up at the Blair Drummond Safari Park to take part in the first ever Stirling Scottish Marathon, organized by Great Run. The next 26.2 miles followed rolling hills and country roads through Doune and Dublane, leading runners past the iconic William Wallace Monument and back to the Stirling city centre where they finished with the Stirling Castle in the background. Eleven members of the Dundee Road Runners took place in the inaugural event, with several PBs from club members as well as strong debut performances from first time marathoners.
